Music Film Festival

At major international film festivals in the Netherlands (IDFA, IFFR), musical films have long been considered a subordinate category - they appeared on the programming but accounted for a very small percentage of the total films presented. Maybe 2 or 3 film out of a total of 250 films screened.  We felt that this urgently needed to change.

First launched in 2022, the Music Film Festival in Tilburg, Netherlands takes place every year in September. A collaboration of four locations - two cinemas and two concert halls (Film Theater Cinecitta, Pathé Tilburg Centrum, Poppodium 013 and Jazz Club Paradox), more than twenty films will be screened over the course of three days. There will be live performances by musicians featured in the films and Q&As with the filmmakers.

The films shown at the Festival are internationally renowned and include Dutch premieres ahead of their general release as well as local Dutch and Tilburg films with local music and musicians playing a central role. There will also be workshops led by professional musicians and filmmakers designed for anyone with an interest in music.

Music Film Festival aims to promote Tilburg music and film to the world. A home to world-renowned film and musical institutes and their hundreds of graduates, Tilburg is a natural home for the Music Film Festival. We are excited to show this year’s selections to all who are able to attend.

The Music Film Festival in Tilburg, Netherlands is a proud member of the MFFN, the international network of twelve music film festivals from various countries in Europe.
